Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has returned to light training after four months on the sidelines.
The Netherlands international picked up a serious knee injury in January which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
It was initially predicted that he could train by the summer but the Dutchman has made a quicker recovery from his setback.
He has now started light training sessions with United’s coaches and could be fit in time for the club’s pre-season campaign.
Van de Beek’s career with United has been far from convincing. He has been on the fringes of the first-team since his arrival.
The Dutchman may not be sold in the summer following his serious injury but he does not have much time to prove his credentials.
The former Ajax man could be offered time until the January transfer window. If he fails to impress, he could be sold next winter.
Van de Beek has been on the radar of his former club Ajax and they could return for his services at the beginning of next year.
