Snow emergencies, school closures in place ahead of winter storm
Press Releases

Ahead of a significant winter storm that could dump more than a foot of snow on Essex County on Tuesday, several communities have declared snow emergencies and canceled school.

Lynn, Marblehead, Peabody, and Saugus have all called off school for Tuesday.

In addition to canceling school, both Lynn and Peabody set down snow emergencies and parking bans starting at midnight on Tuesday. Municipal parking lots in the city will be open to residents beginning at 6 p.m.

The Lynn Public Library, the Senior Center, and non-essential offices at City Hall will also be closed during the storm.

Peabody police are set to activate the blue light system beginning at 4 p.m. to help alert rush hour commuters to the parking ban, but Mayor Ted Bettencourt’s office said no cars would be ticketed or towed prior to midnight.
