Should Mohamed Salah depart Liverpool for a new challenge during the summer, a fellow countryman could be amongst the names set to replace the 31-year-old at Anfield. Omar Marmoush has captivated Bundesliga audiences this season, his debut campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 10 goals in 23 games.
For many, Marmoush is seen as the natural successor to Salah at international level for Egypt and now Liverpool are amongst the teams showing an interest in the 25-year-old. Marmoush started his career in his home country, before making a move to VfL Wolfsburg in 2017. After six years there, a move to Frankfurt followed, but prior to that two loan spells with St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart helped the youngster’s early development.
At international level, the left winger has scored 5 goals in 31 games and is an important part of the national team, spearheading the attack alongside Salah. Salah could leave for Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window, and Liverpool will have around £75 million to spend on a replacement. Marmoush could be available for a fee of around £35 million should Frankfurt decide to sell the versatile attacker.
